Investigators recovered car parts from the vehicle that originally struck the pair and their investigation is ongoing. The female victim was hospitalized in stable condition. Responding paramedics pronounced the male victim dead at the scene. Police later stopped the driver of the Chevrolet at 18th and Pike Streets and investigated the female driver. The driver stopped, then drove off, according to police. The officer the saw a Chevrolet traveling on the block run over the man who was laying unresponsive in the road. A 32-year-old woman was alert and crying in pain, and a 36-year-old man was unresponsive after police say they were struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. Police say a off-duty officer was driving on the block when he saw two pedestrians laying on the highway.
